Art is Hard is a collaborative art movement, website and blog established to create a forum for critical dialogue about art and culture. We have chosen the Word Wide Web as a venue in order to draw in, not only the art world, but other, more broadly based communities who may not necessarily be directly involved in the arts.
The movement, although based on the web, begins on the streets with an Art is Hard sticker campaign. Stickers are placed throughout any given community to create a curiosity about art and to encourage people to go to the website.
The website www.artshard.com will include a blog, with articles from its founding members as well as outside contributors; and an online gallery and retail store, which will showcase t-shirt ideas using the “art is” template from site visitors.
The Art is Hard movement relies on the contribution of a wide-ranging community of people; it promotes involvement in the arts from all levels of interest and encourages a multifaceted approach to learning about and making art.
